Healing And The Law of Attraction

Posted on May 3rd, 2006 by Shelly : Petrepreneur- Pay It Forward Pets Shelly

Choose a doctor who will find something right with you.

     -- Alan Cohen

This one is going to be a bit scattered because....well my brain feels very scattered right now. Sometimes we just need to purge our thoughts without being critical of the outcome. This is one of those days. Here it goes.....

The Universe has been working really hard lately to get me to pay attention to this Law of Attraction stuff. Examples and confirmations are popping up all around me. Freaky synchronicities and huge ah-ha moments abound. It's like that WTF? factor that I have been seeing going around Zaadz, but on speed. Too many moments of "How do you explain that?" which lead to a simple, "Amazing, I don't know how it happened, but I am glad it did."

Do you ever get that feeling that you are supposed to master something because it is for you to be an example for the world? Well this LOA thingy is one of those cases for me and to tell you the truth I am a bit apprehensive and have been trying to outrun it for awhile. I mean, that is a pretty big responsibility. It is obvious that I have aptitude for it, but sometimes it would be easier just not to care. I remember Carolyn Myss saying in one of her speeches that it is a LOT easier and a whole lot more fun to remain unconscious. The conscious track is quite a bit of work and keeps you from doing things that are on the surface, fun, but on the back-side, not so good for anyone. Being good all the time gets a little boring and mundane. But thats a topic for a whole other day.

Back to one of those LOA lessons.....When I was a child, I used to love to go to the zoo. I found myself reminiscing recently about the times my parents and Aunt and Uncle would take me to the zoo and each time all I wanted to do was go to the nursery to see the baby animals. I could have spent all day there but because the price of the ticket included all attractions, the adults in the group felt we "should get our money's worth". Thus, I would have to be drug away from the babies kicking and screaming. And God forbid, we went at a time of the year when there were no babies! Then the day was just shot all together.

As I was reminiscing, I was reflecting on the recent reacquisition of my home and how perfect the existing home would be as a nursery and hospital for the sick and injured animals I administer to. The house is small by most standards but the floors are ceramic tile through out and the counter tops granite, which lends for the perfect sterile environment should it be necessary. I imagined as I built an eco-home on the front of the property that the existing home could become my office and the hospital/nursery since it is located so close to the barn. It is really set up perfect for such.

Now, mind you, it was just fantasizing about it all and nothing more. (I am finding this to be a big part of success with the LOA..... I was "feeling" the good times of being a child and wanting that again and all of a sudden it shows up almost momentarily. Mental note- Like Esther Hicks says..... "Good feelings equals sped up manifestation".) In less than 48 hours I was getting calls left and right and all involved baby critters. First the baby goat in critical care arrived, then a litter of kittens approximately 2 weeks old and quite emaciated. A day later, a call about another litter only two days old and three days later another litter that the foster insisted I take to ensure their well being. My office is now full of kittens of all ages and I am feeding all 10 of them by bottle about every three hours. A clear reminder that I have to be VERY careful what I fantasize about these days.

The second part of my story, which I find most important and even more fascinating is that several of these animals came with "disabilities". The baby goat was deemed by her vet not to walk properly and possible not at all. The vet of the youngest litter of kittens told the person who found them that they would not survive without their mother. The foster of the oldest litter had great concern for them since one of their siblings had already died and the vet said it was possible that others might also. Why do doctors and veterinarians feel it necessary to warn people of impending danger? Is it for liability reasons or do they really believe that the animal or person has no chance? Maybe they don't believe in miracles? Sure, mention that some things could be paid attention to, but is it necessary to write them off all together?

The reason I bring this up is that as long as I can remember, I have been healing animals in some capacity or another. My Mom has video of me pushing kittens around in my baby buggy when I was about two years old.  It was evident then that I had great concern for my charges and took great care to nurture each one. I grew up watching my Mom successfully heal litters of kittens and sick animals and somehow I was never told that I couldn't. Never in my life did I learn the word "can't" when it came to healing critters and thus it never crossed my mind that I couldn't.

Even to this day, when a doctor tells me something is wrong with a person or animal, I can't bring myself to believe that all hope is gone, simply because I know the power of what focused intent can do to the body. I don't mean to be disrespectful but for the most part, it is hard for me to believe in a doctor that just goes about spouting all the things that are wrong and not looking at the ways that things could be made right. I really wish that more doctors understood what a powerful effect belief and intention has on healing and what their very comments do for the persons well being. I wish more people realized that they have more control over their health than they believe they do. They don't have to be slaves to the drug companies or to what someone else says they should do. The greatest health decision they could ever make is to follow their heart and trust that they know what is right for their own good. But then, that would take tuning into their intuition and for many that is just too scary.

But in ranting I digress, what I am getting at is that animals don't see themselves as sick. When given the chance, they rally around what ever circumstance they are given. The little goat is now walking and almost showing no sign of a disability in the first place. All the kittens are still alive and flourishing actually. There have been very few animals in my past who were not able to heal (even horses with cancer) so long as they had proper nutrition and a deep and unwavering love. Maybe it is the belief that they will survive that propels them into doing so? Maybe it is the holistic approach? Both? Neither?

I recall being at the American Holistic Veterinary Conference last year and sitting at a table for lunch with some of the doctors. A conversation struck up about how several of them were finding that it wasn't the type of modality that seemed to matter but that it was the intension behind the treatment that they offered. Here's a group of very accomplished holistic veterinarians and they are just now getting a feel for the physics behind the medicine. Why did it takes us so long to get here..... or sould I say, return here? The "doctors" (medicine men, etc) of our past understood the energy behind the medicine. Why did we push it away? How do we get it back into the MD, PhD, DVM, etc. fields? How do we help patients know that "three months to live" isn't always true?

These are my questions to which I don't have much to offer in the realm of answers, other than the fact that I have seen it work many times...over and over again. I even have a friend that was told he would never walk again who took his own healing into his hands and created a program of nutrition, meals, rehab, meditation and intention and ended up walking out of the hospital a few months later. Had he believed his doctor, he'd still be laying there.

Just because a supposedly "professional" in the field deems you or your loved one hopeless doesn't mean that it is.....unless of course you believe him. Like the quote above says, find a doctor who can tell you what is right with you or keep looking until you find one. Greatest health comes from believing in optimal health. Mind your health, but most of all, mind your thoughts.

Such wisdom! Indeed, how did the medical profession get so out of touch? When did it happen? I could climb up on a soap box and rant for hours, but alas, I am at work. :  )

I have a freind whose calling is nursing. She left health-care when the “industry” part took over everything else and now she uses her expertise to… rescue and nurse back to health animals (mostly dogs & cats)! She then puts them up for adoption and fosters them out so that she can bring in more. She calls it an “expensive” hobby, especially since she rescues from all over two or three states, and she drives up to 12 hours to deliver adopted animals to their new Forever Homes!

I think you can relate to that, eh, Shelly?

Captivating post, Shelly!  I've been learning lately just how important it is to 'connect' with what was important to us as a child, and who we 'were'.  I'll write a blog about it, soon ;-)

All this medical talk reminds me of one of many stories that I've heard.  I forget his name, and I forget the disease, but.. There was this empowering 70's author that contracted a disease in the jungle that had a 0% recovery rate.

He knew that was crap, so he went and rented every The Three Stooges tape he could find, locked himself up in a hotel room, and spent a month laughing his ass off.  That disease now has some sort'a .01% recovery rate.

The mind, and spirit are powerful things!  Thanks for the reminder :)

sometimes i feel that too. if you want some good “answers” on mastery, George Leonard's Mastery is a good read. it's one of my favorite books on this subject.

when it comes to understanding medicine from a holistic point-of-view, i find Wilber's Integral Medicine essay to be very fluffy :)

take care and stay lucid.

What an amazing blog Shelly!  Really touching and so right on.  It's such a gift to be involved with something you were meant to do from birth…the imagery of you pushing kittens around in a doll stroller is priceless!  You're definitely an inspiration…

You're so right about doctors…I, too, could go on a rant.  I've been told in the past that I have cancer, MS, epillepsy, strokes…pretty much any major disease you could name (of course they were all wrong!).  I think the body and our own intuition are the most powerful healing tools out there.  I'm really working on changing my thoughts…HEAL THYSELF!

Thanks for a beautiful post, Shelly.  Very inspiring!

It's easy to forget all of the power we're connected to, all of the power that we have inside us, and all of the power that we are.  Thanks for such a wonderful reminder.

Lots of love - Nancy

Hey Shelly!

You wrote…

”..what I am getting at is that animals don't see themselves as sick. When given the chance, they rally around what ever circumstance they are given.”

We learned this as well with my folks' young pup, appropriately named Rowdy.  While very young, his little leg was broken when he was unable to escape a falling wooden fence.  The vet discussed the possibility of taking his leg off…not in a spirit of hopelessness, but acknowledging what you describe as a positive three-legged future.  However, we opted for a different vet and a makeshift cast that he bobbled around on for weeks, ignorantly ALMOST keeping up with his two larger canine companions.

Outside of sleeping with his unbending casting extended up into the air…(this was hilarious)…he healed seemingly completely and scurries about now in the true spirit of his name.

If only we could be so hopefully oblivious to hopelessness…good boy, Rowdy!

Great read.  Thanks…McMahon

Diane, yes I do “understand”…… sometimes caring for all these critters gets a bit expensive…. .time and money. I send your friend much love and prosperity in her pursuit. The more in this feild the merrier. She is very blessed to have your friendship and support. Many don't understand how trying the work can be at times.

Rob, funny how were born knowing what we are supposed to do huh? I am looking forward to reading that blog. It is important.

SixthSense, Kelly, ~C, Mandy, Nancy, I am not sure I can ever explain how much your loving support and contributions mean to me. It is so nice to be reminded of the blessing of frinedship through you all.

McMahon my friend, so good to hear from you in between shows. I got a great visual and laugh of Rowdy with his lump of plaster sticking straight in the air not at all affected by it's inconvenience. Go Rowdy! Thanks for sharing his story. It is inspirational.

That reminds me of a whole other story….. when working with the Horse Whisperer I came to learn how animals really live up to the names we give them. Many of the horses were perfect mirrors of their names. It was weird. Guess we have to be careful what we name them. :-)

Hi Shelly

Great post. If you haven't already seen, I included you in the 49th Carnival of Healing which I hosted on Saturday at my blog: http://evolvingtimes.com/?p=35. Your entry fit in perfectly with the topic of Healing vs. Allowing. I hope to hear more about this from you in the future. And now that I've joined the Zaadsters I'm looking forward to getting to know you and the community here.

Thanks
